Michael Disalvo

September 3, 1937 — February 17, 2024

Michael DiSalvo, 86, of Wellington, Florida was called home by the Lord peacefully on February 17, 2024, surrounded by his treasured family. Michael was born on September 3, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the first born into a large, loving Italian family of eight. During his adolescent years, he worked as an attendant at a petrol station to provide extra support for his family. This was the start of his caring endeavors for others. In his teenage years, he developed a love for music and played the accordion. He worked as a music instructor when he met his teenage sweetheart, Marie DiSalvo, and it was love at first sight. He married in 1960 and worked as a coatings chemist before his son and daughter were born. His charismatic personality and love for family and serving others led him into a new journey, and that is when he and his family started several banquet halls -- Michael's and Marielle's catering was born. With his passion for traveling and desire for warmer weather, he sold the banquet halls, retired, and moved to Wellington, FL in the 1990's. During his retired years, he gained a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law and welcomed five grandchildren and two great grandsons. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and playing his piano. He loved technology, was a wiz on the computer, and could fix just about anything. During his final years, he enjoyed Sunday family dinners, a good cup of coffee, a smoke, and something sweet. Michael departed leaving his legacy, love, and touching the hearts of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed, but now he is able to rest. Michael is survived by his wife, Marie DiSalvo; his son, Michael (Tracy) DiSalvo; his daughter, Gina (John) Kare; his grandchildren, Aris Kare, Maria DiSalvo, Michael Kare, Marina Kare, and two great grandsons, Andrew James and Domminick Ray; his siblings, Pasquale (Svetlana) DiSalvo, and Mary Rose (Ralph) Sarenac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary DiSalvo; his brother, Frank DiSalvo; sisters, Carmella (John) Guardi, and Concetta (Kenneth) Halvorsen; sister-in-law, Patrina DiSalvo; and granddaughter, Amanda DiSalvo.
