Mertyce E Coney

March 31, 1933 — June 30, 2020

During his 22 year military career, he saw the world many times over, from many states including Alaska, Hawaii (which at the time was a territory of the United States), Germany and 2 tours during the Vietnam War. Mr. Coney retired from the military in 1976, and moved his family from nearby Lawton, Oklahoma, to Oklahoma City where he began the second part of his life working for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in Finance. During this time, he was owner and operator of a lawn and maintenance company, and began working with Primerica. Mr. Coney retired from GMAC in the early nineties and in 1996, Mertyce and his spouse moved back to Florida. Mr. Coney was very determined and remained that way throughout his life and never wanted to sit still even toward the end. Plenty of people were inspired by Mr. Coney to set goals and to achieve their goals. Mr. Coney was grounded in his faith and was a member of Beulahland Church of God in Christ and was also a substitute teacher with Palm Beach County Schools.
