Melissa Ann (Yon) Acosta, also known as Missy & Mel, passed away on January 20, 2024, in Lake Worth, FL, at the age of 37. Born on January 2, 1987, in West Palm Beach, Melissa was a remarkable woman, known for her intelligence, wit, and a heart overflowing with love. Her sweet and loving nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beacon of kindness and radiated a warmth that made everyone around her feel valued and appreciated. Family was at the center of Melissa's world, and she took immense joy in being a devoted mother to her beloved son, Jayce Hensley. Their bond was unbreakable, and she poured her heart and soul into ensuring his happiness and well-being. Her role as a mother defined her life, and her love for her son was evident in every aspect of her being. Melissa recently worked in customer service for Above and Beyond Pest Control and was previously employed at Lion Country Safari KOA for about 12 years, where she was loved by all her seasonal guests. Her dedication and warmth made her a cherished member of the team. Melissa's memory will be cherished by those who knew her as a beacon of love and strength. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to the impact she had on the lives she touched. She is survived by her son, Jayce Hensley, her father, Michael Yon, her mother, Penelope Yon, her sister, Christina Ampuero, her nieces, Juliana Garcia and Katelyn Cabrera, and her nephew, Christian Rivera. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Rae Curtis and Sadie Stover. A memorial service to honor Melissa's life will be held on January 27, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Palms West Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Epilepsy Foundation in Melissa's memory.
