Matthew J. Byron

Matthew J. Byron, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 30, 2021. He was born on November 14, 1984 in Miami Shores, FL. The family moved to Wellington, FL in 1993. Matt is survived by his parents Linda and Bill Byron, sister Sarah Clarke and brother-in-law James Clarke, nephews Theodore and Logan Clarke, aunt Barbara and uncle Steve Downey, cousins Krista and John Downey and uncle Craig Howard. Matt graduated from Wellington High School in 2003, and received his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida in 2009. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He grew up a smart, fun loving, happy child in Wellington, playing sports and learning to play the piano and guitar. He loved music, movies, juggling, and had a variety of exotic reptiles. He was keen on learning about road construction, space travel, science and technology. He was a quiet person with a good soul and a kind heart. The cause of death is believed to be a drug overdose pending the toxicology report. We write this not to dishonor his memory but to shine a light on an illness that is taking the lives of far too many young people. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date, when it is safe for his family and friends to gather together to honor his memory.
