Mary D. Sems, 98, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012. She was born January 27, 1914 in Wellsville, OH where she was raised until her family moved to Buffalo, NY. In 1943 she married the love of her life, the late Charles A. Sems and were married for 67 years. During WWII, she worked as a post librarian at Tonapa Army Air Base in Tonapa, NV. After the war, they returned to Buffalo to raise their family. In 1952 they moved to Miami, FL where Charles taught high school math at North Miami Senior High School. Mary attended Barry College and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She went on to teach 1st and 2nd grade at Greynolds Park Elementary School until she retired in 1982, so they could move to Royal Palm Beach and spend time with their family. Mary's memory will be cherished by her son, Richard C. Sems; daughter in law, Susan A. Sems; grandchildren, Charles E. Sems, Angela M. (Chris) Stryker and Sarah A. (Seth) Wade; great grandchildren, Blayne Sems, Bentley Wade and Gaige Stryker. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles A. Sems in 2010 and her son Gary M. Sems in 1994. A Viewing will be held 10-11 AM on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Palms West a service beginning at 11 AM. Following services, she will be laid to rest along side her husband at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to The Rehab Center of the Palm Beaches, 301 Northpoint Parkway, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
