Mary LaPointe (Pruden), April 15,1940-July 24,2026 Age 86, of West Palm Beach FL, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026 with loved ones. She was happiest surrounded by her family, and we will always remember a life lived with immense love, faith, and a constant sense of caring.
Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Melissa (Mitzi) Hamann, parents, Lester and Nellie Pruden and her brothers Lester Jr (Emma) and Ray Pruden (Maryann).
Mary is survived by her husband Joseph Jerry LaPointe, whom she married on October 5, 1963, her son Mark LaPointe (Geri), daughter Suzanne O’Reilly (Daniel), Son in law John Hamann (Tracey), Grandchildren Ryan O’Reilly (Sara), Alec LaPointe, Chad Hamann (Devyn), Brienna O’Reilly (Raymond) and Autumn Hamann (Zack). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Melissa Hamann and Summer Hamann.
Mary was born in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. She met her husband Joseph Jerry LaPointe while working at RCA Records in Rockaway, NJ. They married a year later, and began a 64-year marriage filled with love, affection and deep commitment to each other. After having 3 children, Mark, Suzanne and Mitzi, Jerry’s career took them in several transfers, eventually settling in Florida in 1972. She was a dedicated homemaker, providing a loving home for her family while her children were young. She eventually continued her career as a Consumer Credit Counselor for several years. She enjoyed the beach and traveling to the Keys with her family on vacations. Though heartbroken in the early loss of her youngest daughter Melissa (Mitzi) in 2013, she boldly carried on and carried a deep love and commitment for her remaining family. She had many hobbies including Gardening, painting and knitting. As a bold and adventurous redhead, she will be remembered for her outspoken wit and fiery spirit, and fierce love of God and family.
A service will be held at Saint Rita Catholic Church 13645 Paddock Drive, Wellington, FL 33414, on August 14th 11am. Immediately following, she will laid to rest at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. All are welcome to attend.
