Mary Theresa LaMedica, 80, of Wellington, FL, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. She was born in Winthrop, MA, on March 13, 1934. After high school, Mary spent the summer in New York on a scholarship to learn the basics of modeling and was offered a job, however her father wanted her to attend college, therefore ending her modeling career and led to her career in teaching. While working as a teacher, Mary met her late husband Michele "Mike" LaMedica and they went on to lead a very active and successful life. After moving to Florida in 1969, they bought and ran Arrowhead Golf Club in Davie, FL. This is where she founded the AFTER Charity for handicapped children and donated the money made from golf tournaments. In 1988, Mary and Mike bought 200 acres in Wellington and developed the property into Binks Forest Golf Course which opened in 1990. Mary was also a very accomplished golfer, Director of PGA Golf Tournaments, a real estate agent for 23 years, owner and founder or the Boomerang Leash Company, and just completed her book, which is to be published later this year. Mary's memory will be cherished by her sister, Nancy Bernard; nieces and nephews: Joan Sarno, Kim Moore, Ralph Pasquariello, Stacey DiPersia, Joseph Sarno, Lisa Ladd, Stephen Pasquariello, Andrew Siegel and numerous grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Mike LaMedica; parents, Joseph Irving Bernard and Mary Agnes Wilder Bernard; sisters, Barbara Pasquariello, Bernice Sarno and Joan Bernard. A visitation will be held 12:00-1:30 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Palms West Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a Mass of the Resurrection will be held 2:00 PM at St. Rita Catholic Church in Wellington.
