On Thursday, October 31, 2024, Mary Albanesi, a loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 92. Mary was born in Gioiosa, Reggio Calabria, Italy on November 18, 1931, to Vincenzo Oppedisano and Maria Teresa Femia Oppedisano. She came to the United States in 1945 and was soon introduced to Amelio Albanesi, whom she married on December 2, 1951. They raised one daughter, Nancy Albanesi. Mary had a green thumb and a life-long passion for growing things, at one point she maintained a garden and only had to buy meat and paper goods at the grocery store. All their vegetables came from the garden. She also loved watching flowers grow, and they were planted along the fences and anywhere else she thought needed brightening. She was once told she could grow leaves on a telephone pole. Mary also loved cooking and found great joy in feeding friends and family her treasured recipes. She was always in the kitchen preparing something. During the holidays, she would spend days baking her revered pastries and treats and creating delicious meals to share. She didn't care to eat the cookies, but she loved to give them to her loved ones. Mary was preceded in death by her, her loving husband of 68 years Amelio, father, Vincenzo and her mother, Maria Teresa. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy, a brother-in-law, Salvatore, several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
