Mark Jones McLean, 63, crossed over August 22nd at his home in Wellington, after a long courageous fight with ALS. Mark was known for his sense of humor and a passion for flying. He was a true athlete participating in several triathlons, bicycle safaris and many road races. If he wasn't donning his running shoes, he was sporting a leather jacket for a joy ride on his motorcycle. He was a lifeline of endless facts and trivia. Born in NAS Bermuda, he was one of four boys and grew up a Navy brat, which was no doubt where he developed his love for flying. He met his wife Helene on Long Island when they both worked together. Mark received his MBA from University of Central Florida continuing on to get his MAI. After the birth of their son Michael in 1994, they relocated to Florida where he began and built his Commercial Appraisal business, McLean and Associates. A dedicated Rotarian, he was inspired by a college scholarship to give back to others and became a business leader in the community. Mark's memory will be cherished by his wife Helene, son Michael, daughters Carolyn and Sarah Barney, son-in-laws Ben Cameron and Jerrod Pratt, four grandchildren Sadie, Greg, Grace, and Joshua, and dogs Benny and Bernie. Viewing will be at Palms West Funeral Home on Wednesday August 25th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00. Church Services will be at St Rita Catholic Church in Wellington at 11:00 on Thursday August 26th, continuing on to Our Lady Queen of Peace cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Rotary Foundation or the ALS Association of Florida.
