Marilyn Rose Schonfield peacefully passed away on October 29, 2011 at the age of 78, surrounded by her family and close friends. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of Joel & Leah (Meyer) Joel. Marilyn was an avid pianist, singer, accordion player, artist, dancer, and great cook. Her accomplishments included being a 4-H leader, Brownie Troop Leader, typed Braille for the blind, and played accordion for the Jewish War Veterans. One of her biggest joys in life was bringing happiness to others. She was always ready to feed and entertain an army of people at a moments notice. She was always to be found with a smile on her face. She was the glue that had held her entire family together. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Robert (Lisa) Schonfield, Bill (Joyce) Schonfield, Leah (Nick) DeBitetto, & Ed Young, grandchildren; Alexis, Michael, Zachary, Christopher, Joshua, Juliana, Joseph, & Victoria, her brothers; Joseph Joel & Bill Joel, and sister Mary Joel. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband; Harvey, daughter; Frances, and siblings; Jack, Frances and Bette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County at www.hpbc.com.
