Marilyn Rae Holmes, 85, of West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Coral Springs, FL, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 19. Marilyn was born in Monterey Park, CA on July 4, 1933. She earned two Masters Degrees in Education from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, CA and had a long and satisfying career as a teacher, ESE specialist and administrator in both California and Florida. She concluded her 50+ year educational career in 2010, retiring as Principal of Coral Cove Elementary School in Miramar, Florida. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George William Holmes. She is survived by her son Christopher (Nadine) Holmes of Loxahatchee, FL and her daughter, Carol (Peter) Coloyan, of West Palm Beach, FL, as well as her beloved grandchildren Jordan and Brandon Holmes and Peter and Rachel Coloyan, and great granddaughter Quinn Grady. She is also survived by her precious cats, Sammy, Dolly and Muffin. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 27, at 10am, at Lauderdale Memorial Park, 2001 SW 4th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL
