Dr. Marie Jose St Gerard, 82, died on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Palm Beach County, Florida with her children by her side. Dr. St. Gerard was a practicing physician for more than thirty years after obtaining a medical degree from the Medical School of Haiti in 1968. After initially practicing in Port-au-Prince, Dr. St. Gerard immigrated to the United States to continue her medical career settling in Queens NY. In the United States, she primarily worked for the New York Department of Health. Dr. St. Gerard completed medical residencies at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and Harlem Hospital in NY, NY. After the completion of her residency, Dr. St .Gerard became an attending physician at Harlem Hospital's Pediatric Emergency Room from 1982 until she concluded her practice of medicine in 2001. In addition to Harlem Hospital, Dr. St. Gerard also provided pediatric services through several other New York City Department of Health clinics and health programs. During her time at Harlem Hospital, Dr. St. Gerard also supervised interns, residents, and physician assistants in Harlem Hospital's Pediatric Emergency Room. Outside of work she was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Cambria Heights, Queens, a member of the New York Chapter of the Association Medicale Haitienne a l'Etranger (Haitian Medical Association Abroad) and most importantly loved her family and took great care guiding her children to adulthood. Dr. St. Gerard was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Serge St. Gerard (2020), her sister Evelyn Lerebours, brother Yves Parinis and nephew Vladimir Lerebours. She is survived by her son Pascal St. Gerard (Trina); by her daughters Astrid Joseph (Yvel), Joanne St Gerard-Joshua (Thair); by her grandchildren Roman St. Gerard, Thadeus and Julian Joseph, Naim and Amari Joshua; nephews Clifford Lerebours, Stanley (Lee) Parinis, Keary Parinis, nieces Phedine Lerebours and Natacha Parinis and by her many cousins: the Parinis, Germain and Vil families. Marie Jose will be fondly remembered by her many family members, friends, and classmates.
