Marie-Therese Rameau Lexima was born on June 20, 1930 in Les Cayes, Haiti. As a young girl, she attended Armelle Rameau's School where she was taught to play piano and ultimately developed a passion for this instrument. She received her formal education at the parochial school of Externat Saint Joseph of Les Cayes and subsequently at Lycee Philippe Guerrier of Les Cayes. Upon the completion of her studies, she married the love of her life, Parnell Lexima on August 14, 1948. They were married for 52 years until Parnell's death in 2000. They hadtenchildren together. Marie-Therese was a great wife and a nurturing mother. Some of her favorite hobbies included sewing and crafting. She enjoyed gardeningand was partial to roses in particular. As a skilled interior decorator, Marie-Therese left behind several pieces of furniture that she personally designed and upholstered.It was a delight for Marie-Therese to echo the walls of her home with songs of her childhood. During the last few years of her life the constant requiem that she sang fervently was "ViensDoncMa Mere" which was her favoritelullaby. Together with her husband, Marie-Therese founded Ecole Frere Jerome of Les Cayes in 1960, where they contributed to the education of generations of Haitian citizens. She was a dedicated teacher and a disciplinarian. Marie-Therese took pride in teaching social and cultural etiquette to the youth of the community. Marie-Therese was a pioneer in her own right; a champion of education and social normsand would like to be remembered as a wonderful wife, a great friend, a loving motherfull of passion, determination, courage and optimism with a spirit of a warrior as she was. Marie-Therese Rameau Lexima passed away on July 9, 2019. She is survived by her brother Jean Alexandre, her sisters Laura Degraff and Gabrielle Pierre-Jerome; eight children: Marie-Claude LeximaValcin (Spouse: Raymond Valcin), Flore LeximaCalixte, Michelle Lexima Pierrot (Spouse: Charles Pierrot, Sr.), Jean-Joseph Lexima (Spouse: Willetta Lexima), Felix Lexima, Mireille Lexima Jackson (Spouse: Billy Jackson), Patrick Lexima (Spouse: Rachelle Daoud Lexima) and Georgia Lexima Ferrer (Spouse: Claude Ferrer). Twenty-three grand-children: Claude-LyneValcinDemesmin, Karl-Eric Valcin, Steve Calixte, Joanne Calixte Boigris, Christine Calixte Lavoie, Charles Pierrot Jr., Cederick Pierrot, Stephane Lexima, Sabrina Lexima, Sean Lexima, Adam Lexima, Andrew Lexima, Arnell Lexima, Marsha LeximaCrowl, Tracy Lexima Jenkins, Lancey-PatrickLexima, Christian-Parnell Lexima, Patrice Lexima, Anne-Rachelle LeximaDemesmin, Georges-AssedLexima, Margia Ferrer Ambroise, Karl Alexandre Jean-Jeune and Jessica Jean-Jeune. Twenty-three great grand-children: Isabella Calixte, Brooklyn Bowsman, Chloe Boigris, Elise Lavoie, Grace-Ann Lavoie, Alyssa Pierrot, Giovanni Pierrot, Michael Pierrot, Maxwell Pierrot, Xavier Pierrot, Skyler Lexima, Riley Lexima, Taylor Lexima, Starr Jean-Marie, Oliver Lexima, Gianni Crowl, Nicolai Crowl, Aaliyah Mireille Jenkins, Lavonn Amari Jenkins, Lucas Grant Lexima, Amelia-AdrienneDemesmin, Dahlia Ambroise, Naheema Pierre and one great greatgrand child: Kendall Jean-Marie. Marie-Therese was preceded in death by her daughters ParnieLexima and Laurence Lexima Jean-Jeune.
