Maria Paula Leao, 71 of Loxahatchee, Florida passed away on Friday Evening April 12th 2024 at home with her family. Maria Paula was born on February 7th 1953 in Maputo, Mozambique where she raised her son and daughter with her late husband which she was married for 43 years. Maria Paula retired from a 40 year career in the banking industry in both Mozambique and Portugal. After her husband's death in 2015 Maria Paula moved to the United States to spend the rest of her years with her Granddaughter. Maria Paula had a love for the her children, granddaughter, dogs and chickens(when they laid enough eggs for her baking addiction)She planted over 300 fruit trees on her property and loved giving neighbors and friends more fruit than they could eat. She loved going to her beloved Portuguese Club where she would hang out with her friends and help where she could. At home she made sure that you were always full of food(even if you weren't hungry) At 7:00 PM every night she watched her favorite show "Wheel Of Fortune". She never missed a "World Cup". She always listen to her favorite football(soccer)team "Benfica" and called her friend Tony to rub it in if they won. She loved Amarula and absolutely was obsessed with the Florida Lottery(maybe a little too much) Maria Paula was patient, sweet and kind to everyone she met. She was giving, caring and would do anything for anyone if she had the chance. She was witty, funny and a bit sarcastic at times. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunty, cousin and friend to so many. Maria Paula will be missed by many of her friends and family in Florida, Mozambique, Portugal and around the the world. Her wishes were to not morn but to celebrate her life, laugh and love each other. She wanted nobody to live with anger, regret nor hold grudges. She wants everyone to be at peace, just like her.
