Maria Cecilio Gomes

Maria Cecilio Gomes, of Wellington Florida, passed away Saturday October 15, 2016 at West Palm Hospital after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Antonio Gomes, born September 16, 1946 in Brava, Cabo Verde the daughter of Jose' and Maria Cecilio Fernandes. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking, and baking. She took pride in her gardening and cake decorating skills, bringing creativity to all she did. Above all, she was a loving mother and wife. In addition to her husband, Antonio Gomes, she is survived by her daughter Rose Whitehouse (Baptista), son John Baptista Jr., sister Henriquetta Ayalla, grandchildren Amanda, Shawn, Armand, Alexander and Cameron. She is preceded by her parents Jose' and Maria, brother Tony, and granddaughter Lauren. Maria was a lab technician for Polaroid for 20 years. Her funeral mass will be held at Saint Rita Catholic Church, 13645 Paddock Dr., Wellington Florida on Wednesday, October 19th, 2016 at 12 PM. Burial to follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery.
