Maria Teresa Diaz

June 8, 1931 — December 8, 2025

Maria Teresa Rosero was born on June 8th ,1931 in Panama City, Panama. She was raised by her mother Virginia Maria Rosero who was a Nurse and by her maternal grandparents. She attended the Institute of Panamerican Studies (IPA) a private bilingual school. She married Francisco Diaz and raised four children Aracelli, Itzel, Francisco and Ivan. The family relocated to New York City and settled in Queens, New York in 1959. Tragically her husband Francisco was killed in a pedestrian accident in 1965, leaving Maria to raise her four children as a single mother. She worked extremely hard to take care of her family first at REA Express Freight Handling Company and later at Citibank. As her family grew and prospered Maria welcomed her grandchildren into the world- Bobby, Steven, Rocco and Savannah. Maria was a devoted grandmother and had an affinity for Prime Time TV dramas. She enjoyed spending time in the Queens Botanical Gardens and Flushing Meadows Park with Bobby and Steven. Later she enjoyed living next to Rocco and Savannah's school, Harbordale Elementary, in Fort Lauderdale. She was able to watch them play in the school yard every day. Maria also had two great grandchildren, Bobby's sons Colin and Brandon. Maria had a very strong faith, she said her prayers every day and enjoyed celebrating religious holidays. She loved talking to her friends by phone over the years keeping track of their lives and families. She loved sending cards and she also loved to eat! Maria was known as a bit of a chatterbox but when she was quiet she was likely enjoying a good meal! Maria is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as countless friends and extended family.
