In Memory of Margueretta Olga Leslie Margueretta Olga Leslie, affectionately called Ms. Olga, was born on July 23, 1926 to parents Lera and George Leslie in Kingston, Jamaica. Ms. Olga was the second child of three: Older sister, Marinacitta who was 2 years older and younger brother, Alton who was 8 years younger. As a child, Ms. Olga was full of energy and loved to read. At primary school (Central Branch Primary), she was a decorated athlete mainly in track and field events. She spoke only in proper English… "the Queens language." She was a very caring sister but had a mind of her own and was not afraid to say what she was thinking. As a young lady, she studied stenography at Kingston Technical High School. She was very active in athletics and a member of the netball team. Always neatly attired, hair well-groomed, and looking elegant, Ms. Olga was very social and enjoyed parties and events. She also enjoyed, music, singing, dancing, baking, and preparing a tasty meal. While living in Jamaica, Ms. Olga worked as a secretary with Jamaican soldiers at the Port Royal Cadet Headquarters as well as at the University of the West Indies. She later continued her career at Jamaica's first broadcasting company, JBC (Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation) for 15 years. On December 26, 1958 Ms. Olga's life changed! She gave birth to her son Peter (The Rock) Robinson. Becoming a Mom gave her a new perspective on life. In 1980, Ms. Olga and her son migrated to the United States. She lived in New York where she was gainfully employed as a senior secretary at the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and there she remained until she retired. After several years, Ms. Olga moved South to sunny West Palm Beach to enjoy the rest of her retirement. As a woman strong in her faith, she was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church for 15 years and was a proud member of the choir. She previously attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Queens, New York. She loved spending time surrounded by family, friends, and church family who were very important to her. Birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations were always remembered by Ms. Olga and she would never forget to send a card in the mail to her loved ones for Christmas and birthdays. Ms. Olga spent her last days in the care of her God daughter, Felicia Mathews and was surrounded by close friends and family who loved her affectionately. She departed this life on the evening of June 3, 2020. She was preceded in death by her son, Peter; sister, Marinacitta; and niece, Greer. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren Peter-Dwayne Robinson and Anika Robinson; brother, Alton Leslie and his wife Gwendolyn Leslie; Marlene (daughter); God daughters, Gressine (Pamela) Davis and Felicia Matthews; 3 nieces, 4 nephews, daughter-in-law, and a host of grand-nephews, grand-nieces, relatives, and friends too numerous to count. Ms. Olga left behind a legacy of grace, peace, and love. Ms. Olga, we know that you are resting peacefully. It is hard on us because you are not physically with us, but your spirit will remain in our hearts. Your song has ended, but your melody lingers on forever. May your soul rest in peace.
