Margarita Izquierdo Brocard, 83, of Lake Worth, died early Saturday morning, May 24, 2014 at Hospice By The Sea in Boca Raton, FL. She was born February 21, 1931 in Cuba to Margot & Jose Francisco Izquierdo. She married George Brocard on May 16, 1962, who preceded her in death June 28, 1979. Surviving are her daughters Ana Jorge and spouse, Guillermo of Miami, Rebecca Santiago and spouse, Joseph, of Boca Raton, Veronica Brocard of West Palm Beach and Patricia Sobrino and spouse Enrique, of Lake Worth; eight grandchildren, Natasha, Leonardo, Monique, Nicholas, Rochelle, George, Cassandra and Dominic and two great grandchildren, Eddy and Jonathan; and several nieces and nephews in Cuba. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and daughter, Carmen Sabugo. Known as Maggie, she emigrated from Cuba in 1963 and was a long time resident of Lake Worth. She graduated from the University of Havana with a PhD in education and taught kindergarten for 49 years which was her life-long passion. The family will receive friends Wednesday immediately following the internment ceremony at 127 Preserve Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33411.
