Margaret Mary O'Connor "Peggy" February 10th, 1937 – April 25th, 2023 Margaret, my mother, was known to all that loved her as "Peggy". Peggy was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to her father, Thomas O'Connor, a decorated Woonsocket fireman and to her loving mother, Grace Ryan. She discovered Florida with her mother in the 50's and fell in love with it. It was there that she would eventually live a beautiful life. In 1965 she gave birth to her only son, Stephen, and moved to Miami, Florida to pursue a new life. She did just that. It was shortly after moving that she was introduced to people who would become her extended family. Osvaldo "Pablo", Haydee, Ibis and Miriam Casanova. Mom was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and knew everything about the family lineage. She was very in tune to who she was and where she came from. She loved her family and friends. She was a devout Catholic who sacrificed in order to give her son a Catholic education and upbringing. Mom loved The Boston Red Sox and most of all, "The Splended Splinter" himself, Mr. Ted Williams. She would often go to games with her father and mother when she was young. She would take the train to New York to see the Sox at Yankee sStadium too! She watched every Red Sox game that ever aired here and was as passionate watching TV as she was being at a game. Mom got to see the Sox play in the 1986 World Series at Fenway Park. It was the last time she ever got to see a game at Fenway. Mom worked for Bell South, which later became AT&T. She retired with 45 years of service and dedication. She was an incredibly devout employee who never took a sick day even when she needed one. She worked very hard and she did it all selflessly for her family. Not long after her retirement, Peggy moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where she bought her home and met some great new friends. She would tell everyone how much she loved retirement. She lived her life of being retired to the fullest. She traveled, went to concerts and loved dining out and she loved a perfect Dry Rob Roy even more. She is survived by her only son, Stephen, her extended family, Ibis Ramos and Denise Lopez. Her grandchildren, Frank and Shawn DeSousa. Her great grandchildren, Monique, Mayah and Matthew DeSousa, and her best friends, Barbara Green, Sherri Lipson and Lyn Patterson. She was loved by many and will be missed. The services for her will be held on May 22nd, 2023 starting at 2pm at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles church followed by her ceremony at Our Lady Queen of Peace at 3pm. This is a casual setting. A true Florida send off. The true spirit of why she loved it here. Shorts and flip flops, sunshine and happiness. I ask that in lieu of flowers I only ask that you take a moment to say a prayer for her soul that she may now rest eternally in Heaven with Jesus. If anyone had pictures or memories, I'd ask that you share them. On a personal note I'd like to thank everyone who ever extended kindness, love and friendship to my mother. God bless you all.
