Marcelo Lopez Mestre

Marcelo Lopez Mestre, 95, passed away on June 10, 2023 in Wellington, FL. He was born on April 20, 1928 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Marcelo worked various jobs during his working years to provide for his family. Marcelo was a calm, loving, quick-witted man with a sense of humor you didn't see coming. He was known for his hard work, love for his family, strength to overcome so much in his life and making living to 95 look easy. All who loved and knew him well likely have shared a cup of coffee or played a game of dominoes with him. Carmen and Marcelo met at work in the summer of 1968. Carmen often shares how she had to look up at him as he stood straight and tall and once she looked into his eyes, it was love at first sight. Six months later, along with her four children, they moved to Pennsylvania as a family. Marcelo instantly became a father of four children and he loved and raised them as his own. They would later have two more daughters and remained in Philadelphia until he retired in 1995. Marcelo spent his retirement years in Palm Beach county. He loved being able to take care of Carmen, plant anything with a seed, sit still to watch for wildlife and being the WORLD'S OKAYEST PAPA. Marcelo is survived by: his wife, Carmen Lopez; six children: Jose E (Kathleen) Rivera, Jose A Rivera, Justo (Teresa) Rivera, Nitza Rivera, Elizabeth (Carlton) Smith and Blanca Mackrey; 25 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and his 1st Great Great Grandchild expected in October; siblings Maria Serrano and Roberto Lopez. He was preceded in death by: his parents Castor Lopez and Mercedes Mestre; brother Juan Lopez. Services for Marcelo will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, located at 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. Rest in peace, Marcelo.
