Dr. Manuel L. Soto, 82, of Wellington, FL, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009. Born in Oriente Province, Cuba, he was the son of Dr. Manuel and Hermania (Garcia) Soto. Manuel was educated in private schools in both Cuba and the United States finishing with a degree from the University of Havana Medical School. After completing an internship at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans he completed residencies in General, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. It was originally planned that he would return to Cuba to join his father's surgical practice bringing the latest in science and technology, however, political events prevented this. He enjoyed a forty year practice in Belle Glade remembering the days of his youth in Cuba in a small sugar mill town. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons and winner of the prestigious Hektoen Silver Medal award on Lymphography, and numerous other societies and associations. Dr. Soto?s memory will be cherished by his loving wife Linda (Mills) Soto and his two sons Manuel lll and Christopher (Kimberley), all of Wellington, Fl. A graveside service will be held 10 AM on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Our lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery.
