Mabel Joyce Ramsay, 97, of West Palm Beach, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. Born on January 28, 1928, in Kingston, Jamaica, she was one of nine children of Franklin and Zilla Campbell. Affectionately known as "May," she was a spirited child who loved track and field and was selected for Jamaica's Olympic high jump team, though she didn't attend. She later became one of Jamaica's first female police officer recruits before moving to England to study nursing and midwifery. After marrying Aston St. Aubyn Ramsay in 1960, May moved to the US. and built nursing career in New York and Florida spanning over 30 years. She was known for her dedication, warmth, and compassionate care. May was a devoted mother of four, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved reading, puzzles, cooking (especially her famous curry goat), and spending time with family. She is survived by her sister Dorothy, children Candis (Marvin son-in-law), Wade, Shauna, and Alison, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. May's legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on in all who knew her.
