Deacon Luis Jorge Castellanos, 75, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, passed away, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at his home. A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2, at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church and his good friend Deacon Steve Hayes will be officiating at 3:30. Friends and family are welcome to visit briefly with the family in the Pavilion afterwards. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church, and a reception in the Parish Hall. Those who wish to send flowers, please do so for Monday. Luis was born September 16, 1941 to Luis Antonio and Maria Emma. He attended Engineering College in Colombia, Optical Institute and Carnegie Public Speaking Seminars in the Big Apple and most recently studied at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary and was ordained Deacon here in West Palm Beach, Florida. On September 7, 1968 he married his Amor, Cenelia and together they set off to conquer the world. Luis had an amazing childhood in Colombia taking spiritual quests with his grandfather up Monserrate, trips with his father to Texaco Company petroleum drilling wells, vacationing with his uncles, dancing with his cousins and of course playing soccer. In 1969 he arrived to NYC, establishing his own businesses, nurturing family traditions and sharing his enthusiasm for life. Luis is survived by his devoted wife, Cenelia, his children: Sandra, Jorge and his wife Shelly, and Paola and her husband Michael. His seven grandchildren, M Jacob, Jasmine, John, Davis, Cole, Reid and Emerson. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, sister, his sisters in law, his nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many dear friends.
