Lloyd Paul Lawton

May 7, 1951 — November 26, 2024

Hello everyone family and friends physically here, via stream, and in spirit. Lloyd Paul Lawton, affectionately known to us as Monty and to his siblings as Bigga was born to Douglas Lawton and Maud Grant on May 7th, 1951 in Kingston Jamaica. Monty was one of eleven children, born to this couple. His Sister Carol Reynolds preceded him. We have 9 remaining siblings, numerous who are present today and via stream. They are: Norman Lawton, Cherry Francis, Blossom Lawrence , Hubert Lawton, Joy Williams, Veronica Walker, Douglas Lawton Jr., Monica Walker, Margaret Campbell. As a youth Monty attended SwallowField All Age School, was an altar server at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kingston and a Boy Scout which he had fond memories of. At the young age of 20 Monty was employed by the Ministry of Labor as a recruitment officer for seasonal workers from the Caribbean going to work in the United States and Canada. This later led him to his next professional chapter to be employed by Florida Crystals known as Osceola Farms. He initially worked seasonal as a camp supervisor for the Belle Glade and Pahokee Camps. Monty later became a field supervisor until his retirement September 13, 2016. Monty was involved in the adult literacy program for the seasonal workers at Palm Beach Junior College now known as Palm Beach State College. Anyone knowing Monty, knows he always stressed education. For kids it was as though they needed a book in hand 24/7. As a young man Monty fell in love with Margaret Prince and after marriage the union produced Shana Rose. He later had a son Lloyd Junior with Cora Edwards. In 1985 after Monty's return to Jamaica from his Florida season he met Mother Walks at Lenn Happ Supermarket, where he was working as a supervisor. He immediately struck up a conversation and traded 2 pounds of rice, which was in short supply. This was an exchange to be introduced to her daughter Charmaine. This lead to their marriage which produced two sons, Sean and Scott. Today we have grandchildren Ellie Grace, Jordan, Sean Anthony and Aurielle. Over Monty's last eight years of retirement he enjoyed what he loved best which included reading his Bible daily, manicuring his yard from sunrise to way past sunset and above all being Gpa. Today we are all saddened by his passing. I would like to thank his physicians Dr. Avram Smukler of Florida Cancer Center. Dr. Hugo Hernandez transplant director of MOFFIT Stem Cell transplant team at Memorial Hospital West. I thank his family and friends, a specific thank you to my work family, who endured this journey with us since August 1st 2023 until today. Monty, this is not goodbye, but as you often said. "Watcha Man, Catch you later." Monty I love you Forever
