LINDA PEARL WHATLEY (MILLS) Born April 25, 1940 passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2008 with her family by her side. She fought a rare brain disease called Primary Progressive Aphasia. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was always happiest when her family was around her. She was born in GA and moved to FL with her parents at 9 months old, she was a resident of West Palm Beach most of her life, she lived in Loxahatchee, FL, but recently moved to Okeechobee, FL. Pearl was known around West Palm Beach for her strong county musical roots. She was a professional singer and had a large following in her prime. She wrote and recorded her own music back in the 60?s, her classic country sound was well loved. Pearl turned down the opportunity to go on the road with her singing career because she didn?t want to miss time with her children. She was a generous person, always giving to charities. She was a true Southern Bell. Pearl was survived by her 5 children; William Tharpe of Crawfordville, FL, Sharon Holycross, Vicky Crosby, Linda Whatley of Okeechobee, FL, Charles Mills of Loxahatchee, FL. She loved her daughter-in-laws, Lynn Tharpe who sang with her for years, Pamela Mills and her son-in-law Monte Crosby, Jr. She was a devoted Grandma to Diana Vasquez, Tony Tharpe, Jammie & Scott Smith & William Tharpe Jr. of Woodville, FL; Richard Tharpe & Sheena Holycross of Okeechobee, FL; Billy Rhodes & Steve Weaver Jr. of WPB, FL; Adam & Chad Weaver of Okeechobee, FL; Bryan Mills of Loxahatchee, FL and Joshua Hamilton of Jupiter, FL. She was the Great Grandma of Tori Rice, Jessica Tharpe, Hannah, Scotty & Trinity Smith, Austin Rhodes, Jordan, Cody & Jaylyn Rickard. She is also survived by her sisters Joan Metz & Patricia Hull both of Lake Worth, FL, her brothers Thomas Whatley & John Whatley of FL, and many nephews and nieces. She will be missed everyday by her family and friends. She is now in the arms of our lord. We love you Mom. Private services were held on July 23, 2008 at Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach, FL.
