Lila M. Mcmillen

Lila Mae Blackwell-McMillen was born at home in Dillon, South Carolina on Friday May 29, 1942. She passed away at home in West Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday April 6, 2011 at the age of 68. Lila had been battling Lung Cancer since October 2006. She is survived by her husband, Douglas McMillen of 52 years. She is also survived by her son Dwayne McMillen and his wife Gail McMillen of Chattanooga, Tennessee and his 3 stepsons, Michael, Tim and Paul and their 6 children, Ezra, Eva, Roscoe, Silas, Gaberial and Lukas and by her daughter Lacy McMillen-Taylor and her husband David Taylor of West Palm Beach, Florida and her stepson, Mason. In addition, she is survived by her 2 sisters, Dorothy Lewis and Ruth Brigman of Florence, South Carolina. Lila and Douglas McMillen started numerous companies involved with Architecture and Engineering, Commercial Real Estate Brokerage and Shopping Center & Industrial Park Development in South Florida and the Tampa Bay area of Florida. She was a significant principal in all of those companies. Lila enjoyed traveling throughout the United States (all 50 states), Canada, New Zealand, Australia, some of the Caribbean and most of the countries in Western Europe. She also enjoyed gardening in her ½ acre formal garden in the Breakers West subdivision. She specialized in growing and arranging roses. Lila also enjoyed home decorating, and was always decorating the house for the next upcoming holiday. Lila and Doug also have an extensive wine collection and spent at least 6 weeks a year in California wine country.
