Lawrence "Larry" Cummings

Lawrence J. (Larry) Cummings, 74. Retired NYPD Detective, and Vietnam Veteran passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in Florida. He was born in Brooklyn,and brought to Staten Island as a young child, living in Dongan Hills, and Oakwood. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Peter's High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1964, and served in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, he joined the NYPD in 1969. His various assignments brought him to the 9th Pct, 120 Pct., Staten Island Task Force, Senior Citizen Robbery Unit, 67th Pct. Detective Squad. He retired from the NYPD in 1991. Larry was always very proud of his family's police background. His father was a NYPD Lieutenant, one brother also served the NYPD, and 2 brothers were members of the Metropolitan Police Department Washington, D.C. Larry and his wife Claudia moved to Florida in 2005. He was predeceased by his wife, Roseanne (Salvo), his parents, Buddy and Cassie Cummings, his stepmother, Grace Cummings, Brother, Jack. He is survived by his wife, Claudia, Son, Larry Jr., Daughter, Allison, twin granddaughters, Calleigh and Casey, Step-sons, Brian and Adam, Brothers, Tim, Mike, and Chris.
