Laurie Jane Hendricks

Laurie Jane Hendricks, 89, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2023. Laurie was born on January 29th, 1934 in Miami, Florida to Ernest V. and Dorothy Calkins Tuttle. Growing up in Miami, Laurie graduated from Miami High School and loved the beauty and spirit of Miami, Biscayne Bay, and the Florida Keys. She loved the beaches, Cape Florida Lighthouse, and being on the water boating as much as possible. On July 31,1952, she married Ralph W. Hendricks of Miami. After retiring from the Miami-Dade County school system, Laurie traveled around the country with her husband, often camping out in their RV in national parks. Traveling with family was one of her great joys in life and she continued doing so as long as she was able. After 68 wonderful years of marriage, Laurie's husband Ralph passed away in 2020. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her for her quick wit, vibrant presence, and for her genuine interest in staying connected with phone calls and cards. Family was incredibly important to her and she doted on the ones she loved. Laurie is survived by her two children, son Greg and his wife Gail, and, daughter Valorie; four grandchildren Amanda, Christina, Shannon, and Sean; and three great grandsons Lucas, Jeremiah, and George. A funeral service will be held at the Palms West Funeral Home on Friday, June 16th, 2023, beginning at 9:00 am followed by burial at the South Florida National Cemetery alongside her beloved husband Ralph.
