Landra McGlaun Blanton passed peacefully at home on January 1, 2014. 'Lanny' was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 11, 1943 and attended John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham. She went on to attend the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, where she obtained her B. S. in Education in 1968. Landra became a teacher in Huntsville, Alabama and also achieved a Master's Degree in Education. It was in Huntsville that she met Frederick E. Blanton, Sr. They married in 1977 and enjoyed 35 wonderful years together until his passing this past year. They lived in Panama City, Florida for 30 of those years, and enjoyed the beach lifestyle. Landra was a talented and dedicated teacher and won awards in both Alabama and Florida, including Teacher of the Year. She was also an accomplished decorator and had her own design business for a number of years. Landra was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick E. Blanton, Sr., her sister Mary McGlaun Walsh, and her parents, Lander and Mildred Flynn McGlaun. She is survived by her children, Frederick Blanton, Jr. and Bob Barron of Staunton, VA, Lisa Blanton and Norman Froscher of Royal Palm Beach Florida, and Beverly and Marc Provost of Coral Springs, Florida. She has three grandchildren, Jordan Froscher and Melissa and Bryan Provost.
