February 14, 1945 — February 1, 2024

Lance Roth Cavagner, 78, of Wellington, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on February 1, 2024, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lucie and Chet Cavagner, and his son, Roth Cavagner. Lance is survived by his wife of 50 years, Celia, daughters, Dawn (Butch) Kopec and Jennifer (Casey) Myers, grandchildren Jake Golburgh, Erin Golburgh, Natalie Myers, Nicholas Myers, Jackson Myers, Joseph Myers, and Sydney Weiss, sister, Dea (Michael) Stever, and niece Melody (Dave) Wojtusik and family, and nephew Sean Stever. Lance was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Valentine's Day, 1945. He spent his childhood growing up in South Florida, where his love of the outdoors first began…spending his days fishing, boating, water skiing, or riding his bike. He attended Edison High School and went on to earn his BS degree from Nova University and an MBA from Barry University. He also served in the Air Force Reserves. Lance had a long and successful career with Southern Bell. Throughout his 37-year tenure, Lance worked his way up from mail boy to a systems designer, engineer, project manager and retired as an advanced technical instructor. Even though he was an exemplary employee, his work life was not what mattered most to him…what mattered most was coming home at the end of the day to his family. When he wasn't at work or at home, you could find him on a canal, lake, river or ocean with a fishing pole in hand. In addition to his love for fishing, Lance was also a master craftsman. His woodworking skills were unmatched, and he took great pride in creating pieces of furniture and cherished heirlooms for his family and friends. Lance's meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship ensured that each piece he made was not only beautiful but also infused with his love. Above all else, Lance cherished his roles as a loyal friend, caring brother, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. His gentle wisdom and quick wit brought warmth and light to his family. Lance's sense of humor was unmatched, never failing to elicit laughter. Lance was a man dedicated to serving others that was born from his deep faith in God. His knack for problem-solving and his willingness to lend a hand endeared him to all who knew him. Lance was also an exceptional cook, creating amazing, unforgettable meals for those lucky enough to partake. He was a man of many talents, a modern-day MacGyver who could tackle any challenge with ingenuity and fortitude. Though Lance may be gone from our sight, his spirit and legacy of kindness, humor, service, and love will live on in the countless lives he touched and the enduring memories he leaves behind. A celebration of his life will be held on February 17, 2024 at 4 pm, with a gathering before at 3 pm. Palms West Funeral Home at 110 Business Park Way Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. In lieu of flowers, Lance's wish was that contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
