Lamar Harris

Lamar Harris, 73, of Loxahatchee, FL, went peacefully home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2012, due to health complications. He was surrounded by loving family and friends. Born in Jessup, GA, Lamar moved to Florida in the mid-60's. He was a life-long carpenter and foreman, building high rises. He was also a long term Palm Beach County School Board employee. Lamar is survived by his companion of 22 years, Irene Oknewski; son, Randy Lamar (Donna) Harris) of Blackshear, GA; daughter, Deanna Kay (Brian) Stroud of Nahunta, GA; sister, Ela Harris of Phoenix, AZ; brother, L.A. (Mary) Harris of Blackshear, GA; stepson, Preston S. Kemp of West Palm Beach, FL; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, on Saturday, September 22, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am with services to follow at St. David's in the Pines Episcopal Church, 465 W. Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington, FL 33414, at 12:00 pm. Reverend Steven Thomas officiating, Pastor Larry Richardson, Church of God, assisting. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Burial to take place in Georgia.
