Kevin Jay Smith, 68, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of March 18, 2025. He was born on February 24, 1957, in Port Jefferson, NY, where he spent his early years. He attended Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, becoming a standout star athlete, excelling in football, basketball and baseball. His love of athletics and sports was a constant in his life. Kevin was predeceased by his father, Junior B. Smith, his mother, Lillian M. Smith, and his stepson, Richard (Rick) Cordis. Kevin is survived by his loving and grief stricken wife of 32 years, Elizabeth "Liz" Cordis, brother, Gary Smith, son, Michael Smith, daughter, Jaclyn Grohmann, (Kyle Grohmann), son, Steven Smith, (Sheryl Smith), step daughter, Alison (Cordis)Dettling, (Robert Dettling), uncle, Charles "Charlie" Anderson, step nephews Nicola (Nick) Laudati and Roberto (Robby) Laudati, as well as, cousins including Lynne Miqueli (Oscar Migueli) and Steven Hoffman (Ann Hoffman). He leaves behind his adored grandsons who he proudly referred to as "my boys", Andrew Maag, Aiden Grohmann, Blake Grohmann, and Jeremy Smith. He always made time to play and teach them everything he knew, instilling and fostering the same love of sports. Kevin went on to a multi-year career along with his dad as Owner Operator of Blue Ribbon Office Products in Lake Worth, continuing years later in the same field as a Field Technician for OmniCopy Corp. He was a past President of the Royal Palm Beach Jaycees from 1988 – 1997 and was an integral part of the donation and restoration of a village owned building to be used as the home and clubhouse of the Jaycees. The annual Haunted House came to life at his hands where he spooked and scared as an incredible Frankenstein. A few years ago, he started his own, well received, handyman business, Off Your List-Home Assist, where he earned the admiration, love and respect of everyone he worked for. He was never more than a phone call away to his children, grandchildren and anyone who needed his help. Kevin loved food which translated into his love of cooking. He was the Master Chef of his family and loved the opportunity to fulfill everyone's personal requests. The holidays were spectacular, and his pride and enjoyment were evident. The void in our lives is immeasurable, the holes in our hearts cannot be mended, the love and gratitude he deserves can never be enough. A viewing and celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM at Palms West Funeral Home located at 110 Business Parkway Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411.
