"Death ends a life, not a relationship." If you had the pleasure of knowing Ken, you have a relationship. Kenneth R Swicegood, 70, of Wellington, passed away on Sunday January 17th, 2016. Ken was the son of Harold "Sox" Swicegood and Mary "Piggie" Shelton. Born in Salisbury, NC on December 22, 1945, Ken resided in North Carolina, Florida and Virginia. Ken enlisted and served in the US Army, and was stationed in Vietnam, Germany and Korea. Few people know that Ken fought at the battle of Hamburger Hill. He graduated in the culinary arts and retired a chef. Ken held many offices in Jaycees in both Florida and Virginia and was awarded a senatorship of the International Jaycees, he was a member of the American Legion Post 367. He preferred to winter in the Conch Republic, and was involved in their most prestigious sports of fishing and drinking. Ken is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet Swicegood and their son Mikel and his husband, Jim. He is also survived by his sister, Beckie "Bird" Day, and spouse Larry, step mom Faye Swicegood, sister Cindy Swicegood, and brother Mark Swicegood, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday January 21 2016 at 1:00PM at The United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, located at 900 Brandywine Road in West Palm Beach.
