It is with heavy hearts that we announce on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Kenneth Parent, a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather suddenly passed away at the age of 67. Born and raised in Maine, he was a proud son of a potato farmer. He worked the farms and drove trucks for the family business until he married Carol, and they moved to Florida in 1975. Together they raised two wonderful children, Barbara Ann, and Joseph. While in Florida, he entered the Roofing Industry and later Ken and his wife Carol, established their own family Roofing Company in 1982. Ken eagerly balanced family and business working side by side with his wife and son while dedicating his time to the Roofing Industry. He served as a past President of the local PBC Roofing Association, and he was a proud long-time member of Florida's State Roofing Association, FRSA. Ken's most recent honor was his position as Chairman of the SIF Board of Trustees. His accolades and strong work ethic help to assure the transition for Joey, his son and best friend to continue operating the family business. Over the years, through weddings, grandchildren and family pets, the family grew. Ken loved his family, socializing with friends, holidays, BBQ's, cruising the seas, and road trips in his RV, especially to the Florida Keys. Ken loved his Hard Rock "family" and all the cherished friendships he developed through the years. Spending time with his grandchildren was his ultimate joy. Attending gymnastic competitions, hockey games, cooking their favorite foods and driving around the neighborhood on his golf cart with his little Maltese, Katie Lynn. "That's so kool", anyone who knew Ken, knew that everything was always "Kool"! Ken loved the song, "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, and that is how he lived his life. Ken was known as a social butterfly, he always had a smile on his face, and he was always there for everyone to lend a helping hand. He touched everyone's lives with his infectious personality. His passing has left us with a void that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed. Ken is survived by his wife Carol of 47 years, daughter Barbara Ann, his son Joey and daughter-in-law Penny, granddaughter's Samantha and Kaiya, his grandson Declan, his many nieces and nephews, and his sister Tina.
