Kenneth Frederick Herndon

Kenneth Herndon was born February 23,1944 in Jersey City New Jersey to Frederick Herndon and Ruth (Horner) Herndon. Kenny, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Chapman) Herndon, his daughter, Kirsten Herndon, his granddaughter, Brianna Oats, who was his pride and joy, his brother Robert Herndon (Susan), his brother William Herndon (Kate), and his sister, Leslie Splendoria, as well as 15 nieces and nephews. Kenny loved his job of twenty two years as a crime scene detective sergeant with the Delray Beach Police Department. After a brief retirement, he served another 11 years with the Boynton Beach Police Department as a crime scene investigator. Kenny loved fishing, football and watching Brianna play soccer and run track. He also loved his rescue dogs and they gave him great comfort throughout this difficult journey. Services will be held Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Boynton Beach, Florida 101 N. Seacrest Boulevard, Boynton Beach, Florida 33435. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tri-County Humane Society, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League or a favorite animal rescue organization.
