It is with deep sadness and immense love that we announce the passing of Kathleen Lona Murphy, who left this world on February 12, 2026.
Born on April 23, 1945, in Kew Gardens to Lona and Arthur Murphy Sr., she grew up in Queens Village, and lived in New Hyde Park, New York. She graduated from Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, Long Island. In the last few decades, she resided in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Kathy worked as an executive assistant in New York City as well as at Florida Atlantic University and many businesses in Boca Raton. Additionally she was a realtor in New York and Florida, matching families with their dream homes. She took pride in her strong work ethic and the personal relationships she built throughout her career.
She was the heart of her family — a woman whose caring spirit and unconditional love shaped the lives of her children. Being a mother was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She loved her kids fiercely and without limits, always putting them first and standing beside them.
She was also a true fighter. Through every challenge life placed in her path, she faced it with strength, determination, and courage. Her resilience inspired everyone around her. Even in difficult times, she continued to give love, comfort, and support to those she cared about.
She had a special place in her heart for her beloved cats, who brought her companionship and happiness. Her gentle, nurturing nature extended not only to her family but to the animals she adored.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Candia and Christine Candia; her son, Kenneth Candia Jr.; her mother, Lona Murphy; and her brothers, Arthur Murphy Jr., Brian Murphy, and Kevin Murphy. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Murphy Sr., and her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Murphy.
Those who knew her will remember her kindness, her protective heart, and the way she made people feel loved. Her legacy lives on in the strength she instilled in her children and the love she poured into her family. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
