Karin Zincke Ward

April 24, 1928 — November 14, 2019

Born April 24, 1928 in Wiesbaden, Germany passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones November 14, 2019. Karin was born into an affluent family in Germany. Her father Robert David Zincke was a well known artist and head of an all men's club of leaders in the community. Her mother Erna Pfluger Zincke was a homemaker and devoted mother to Karin who was her only child. Despite being brought up during the war Karin flourished. Her love for animals began at a young age. She had many birds, turtles, dachshunds and even a tame black crow. Karin also enjoyed modeling and was popular because of her striking black hair and a premature strip of gray hair down the middle. In 1949 Karin met American servicemen Jack Ward and they married in December of that year. Karin traveled to America for the first time to be with her new husband in 1950. She often told the story of that trip on the ship being a long miserable battle of sea sickness and how embarrassing it was to have to be carried off the ship. Karin gave birth to her first child Gary Terell Ward in 1951 in Selma, Alabama. This family of three then began to travel and live all over the world through the armed forces. She enjoyed telling stories of her adventures living in Turkey, France, Italy and of course the States. After returning to the States permanently Karin gave birth to her daughter Pamela Ward Reeves in Atlantis, Florida. During these years Karin was a telephone operator in downtown West Palm Beach and the credit manager of Jordan Marsh. She eventually retired from Macy's. Karin was blessed with 4 grandchildren who affectionately called her Mimi. Beth Moore Perry, Ileyana Chantel Graves, Brooke Alexis Reeves and Colby Ward Reeves. She was also Mom to her dog Max and bird Putzi. After living in Delray Beach for many years and the death of her husband Jack, she moved to be near her family to Royal Palm Beach. She enjoyed living so close to her family and stayed active with her friends. She fought a long courageous battle with cancer for many years but could still be the life of the party and make people laugh. All the while making sure everyone was taken care of and kept in line. Although we miss her already we are so happy that she is no longer in pain and has been reunited with her husband Jack, son Gary and her parents.
