Juana Maura Teran (Juanita) was born in Guantanamo, Cuba, on November 9th, 1923. She took her last breath at her home, surrounded by family, in Wellington, Florida at 05:30 in the morning of November 6, 2014. She leaves behind her daughters: Luisa Martell, Marta Cubelo, Lilia Dorsa, and Idalmis Teran Gonzalez; her grandchildren: Maura, Lester, Patricia, Alex, Daniel, Teresa and Faustino; her sons in law, whom she adopted as her own: Luis, Alejandro, Antonino and Faustino. Over the last few years, when her memory started failing and she couldn't see to her own needs, she was cared for by Patria Hernandez, Cynthia Conde and Ania Garcias. She adopted them too. Juanita (Mami, as we all called her) will be remembered as a fierce protector of her children. She was a caring, loving woman who nurtured and spoiled all who would let her. We will miss her counsel, her melodious voice that could be heard for blocks, as she sang the songs of her childhood. She had an infectious laugh that brought a smile to the heart and brightened the darkest days. At her time of need she was cared for by a wonderful team of caregivers from TrustBridge Health (Hospice of Palm Beach County). The family will forever be indebted to this institution for their ability to ease our pain during such a difficult time. For this reason, we would ask that, instead of flowers, a donation be made in Juanita's name to the Hospice of Palm Beach County foundation. A visitation will be held at Palms West Funeral Home on Friday, November7, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St Rita Catholic Church on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:00 am with burial to follow.
