Joyce Ruth Gilbert

Joyce Ruth Gilbert of Royal Palm Beach passed away March 1,2014. She was Born in Harlen Kentucky January 27, 1934. To the Late Roscoe and Goldie Lay. After traveling around the United State with her husband for the Air force they settled in Belle Glade Florida in 1962. She was the first to start up the PTA for Eastlake Middle School. Later becoming the president. Upon her retirement she was the store manager for Thriftway in Pahokee. After retirement they moved to Royal Palm Beach. She is proceed in death by her husband of 58 yrs Glenn Gilbert,Brother James Lay and Sister Janelle Hayes. She leaves behind sons Michael Gilbert, Johnny(Ruth)Gilbert,Steven (Susan)Gilbert. Daughters Catherine (James) Stamm, Debra (Russel)Field,Teresa (Dan) Ward and brother Paul Lay. Grandchildren Ashley,Christopher,Joshua,Michael,Adam , Amos,Christie and Casey. Great grandchildren Alyssa and Colton. Memorial Service will be held March 13,2014 at Palms West Funeral Home. From 12:00 to 1:00. Service from 1:00 to 1:30. Burial to follow at the VA Cemetery in Lantana. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Cancer Society or Hospice Bethesda by the sea in Boynton Beach.
