Joy Joanne Mahovich

Joy Joanne Mahovich of Palm Beach Gardens, died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 25, 2014 after a courageous two -year battle with cancer. She was born in Plainfield, NJ on April 12, 1941 to Madeline Fooshkill and Christian Frank Sabatino and also raised by Joseph and Ellen Lettieri. Joy graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, NJ and Mount Aloysius Jr. College. She then married her high school sweetheart, Michael Mahovich, to whom she has been married for 52 years. Joy had an elegance, grace and style that inspired so many others around her. She had an impeccable flair for fashion and passion for decorating. Joy and Mike enjoyed traveling the world and making new friends along the way. She loved spending time with the many friendships she had cultivated and nurtured and was always willing to lend a helping hand. However, Joy's greatest love was spending time with her husband, children and granddaughter. Joy truly lived up to her name. She will live eternally in so many of our hearts and will be missed deeply. Joy is survived by her husband, Michael Mahovich; daughter, Cynthia D'Amico; son, Michael Mahovich III; and granddaughter, Malena D'Amico. Visitation will be held at Palms West Funeral Home Tuesday October 28, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00. The funeral mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton, FL, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
