June 8, 1922 — January 28, 2024

Be happy for this moment, this moment is your life -Omar Khayyam Josephine J. DiMarco, 101, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, entered eternal rest surrounded by the comfort of family on January 28,2024. She was born in New York on June 8,1922 to Vincenza and Antonio DiMarco, who like millions of others, immigrated from Italy to the United States for the chance at the American Dream. Young Josephine excelled academically. She attended Julia Richmond High School before leaving New York City, and headed to Iowa Wesleyan where she attended college and would graduate from University of DesMoines medical school in 1950. Doctor DiMarco was ahead of her time being one of only six women to graduate medical school in her graduating class. She then headed back to the east coast to start her residency in Massachusetts. After her residency, Josephine returned to her hometown of Astoria, Queens in New York where she established her private practice. Her career spanned decades and touched the lives of generations of families. With the advent of social media, patients continued to reach out to Dr. DiMarco long after her retirement in 1990. Upon retirement, Josephine had more time to pursue her other passions. She traveled the world, spoke multiple languages, played several instruments and was an accomplished painter. She was an active member of her church Our Lady Queen of the Apostles. The only thing she did not have time for was stress. In fact she attributed her longevity to her calm demeanor. Her kind heart and generous spirit made her the center of her large Italian family. When Josephine relocated to Florida, her family followed suit. She absolutely adored spending time with her family which consists of dozens of nieces and nephews spanning multiple generations. Each year Aunt Jo as she is known by family and -friends that are considered family- would host Easter Sunday brunch. Forty plus guests would gather for a family reunion. A family tradition that will continue until we meet again. Doctor Josephine DiMarco was preceded in death by her beloved sister Angelina (Michael) Graziano, brother Benjamin (Lillian) DiMarco, and nephew Robert DiMarco. She is survived by her lifelong friend Marie Melito, loving nieces and nephews Benjamin (Corrine) DiMarco, JoAnne DiMarco, Janette (Arthur) Damm, Michael Anne (Ramon) Cruz, Gloria (Gerome) Enea, Anthony (Angela) Graziano and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
