With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Joseph Weston Sigmond on December 16, 2025, at the age of 70. His life was marked by compassion, kindness, and a dedicated work ethic that touched the lives of countless Palm Beach, Okeechobee, Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River County families as he helped them navigate the system of adoption in Florida.

Weston was born in Palm Beach County on December 19, 1954 to adoring adoptive parents Isabel Bryant Sigmond and Joseph Sigmond. He attended Palm Beach County schools, received his Bachelor degree, and early on worked some years as a social worker in the foster care system. With encouragement from an honorable Palm Beach County judge, he pursued his law degree at Nova University before he settled into a life-long passion for connecting families with children as an adoption attorney.

In his younger years, Weston was an active presence on the golf course, but he was perhaps best known by friends and family as a dedicated sports enthusiast. He loved nothing more than a lively, friendly debate over a recent game or sporting event. A fixture at Marlins Spring Training for many years, Weston also took great pride in cheering on the FAU football team as a season ticket holder. Since the Florida Panthers’ inaugural season, he rarely missed a game—whether he was cheering from the stands or enjoying the action from the comfort of home. Most recently, he found new joy in following the strategy and speed of the Tour de France and F1 racing.

Throughout his life Weston enjoyed world-wide travel which led to the fortuitous airport meeting of his future wife, Glenda. They were married in the year 2000 and continued their touring and traveling where their footprints touched New York, Boston, places in the South, and Alaska as well as cruise destinations overseas in Asia, South America, and Europe. Glenda was his partner and steadfast center to the end. He built his world around her.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his dear aunt, Barbara Bryant Harris, and uncle, Herbert Sigmond, whom he so devotedly cared for in their later years.

Weston is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Sigmond. He also leaves behind a niece and nephew in Taiwan, many cousins from Florida to Massachusetts to Taiwan, as well as many special friends, and an exuberant Cocker Spaniel named Dragon. All will sadly miss him.

Services to honor Weston’s life will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, Florida, on February 15, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Learn to Read of St. Lucie County, 811 Delaware Avenue, Ft. Pierce, FL 34950 / learntoreadslc.org 772-464-2747.
