Joseph "Papa Joe" Nacarato Obituary Joseph "Papa Joe" Nacarato, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, at the age of 97, in the comfort of his home in Lake Worth, Florida. Born on December 19, 1926, to Carl and Vera Nacarato in New York, NY, Joe grew up in a vibrant, close-knit community. Surrounded by his two siblings, Evelyn and Pat, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, Joe's early years were filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of family. After graduating from high school, Joe answered the call of duty and enlisted in the Army, where he bravely served his country during World War II. His courage and dedication to protecting the freedoms we hold dear are a testament to the strength of his character. Upon returning home, Joe met the love of his life, Matilda "Tilly." They married on June 17, 1947, and together they built a beautiful life, raising their two sons, Patrick and Carl, with love and devotion. Joe was a hardworking man who spent many years as an oil burner mechanic before transitioning to work as a high school bus driver, where he enjoyed connecting with the youth of his community. After retiring, Joe and Tilly relocated from New York to Port Orange, Florida, where they found joy in the warmth of the Sunshine State. Shortly after, their sons, Pat and Carl, along with their families, followed, reuniting the family once again. These years were filled with cherished moments, surrounded by loved ones who meant the world to Joe. Known for his strong will and occasional stubbornness, Joe was also a man of great heart and humor. His generosity, loyalty, and courage defined him, and his sharp mind was a well of wisdom shaped by a lifetime of rich experiences. Joe's love for his family was at the center of everything he did. He took immense joy in family gatherings, celebrations, and the time spent with his loved ones. His frequent trips to the casino, where he relished playing cards, and his passion for fishing, which offered him moments of peaceful reflection, were among his favorite pastimes. But no matter where life took him, Joe always returned to the embrace of his family, who were the true source of his happiness. Though we mourn his passing, we find solace in knowing that Joe is now reunited with his beloved Tilly in the afterlife. Together, they watch over us, continuing to guide and protect the family they nurtured with so much love. Joe is survived by his sons, Patrick and Annie Nacarato, and Carl and Janis Nacarato; his grandchildren: Trisha, Amy, Betsy, the late Carl Jr., Joey, Lori, Patrick, and Carlye; and his great-grandchildren: Brianna, Skyler, Montana, Pauli, Kyla, John, Gia, Anthony, Alexis, Luca, Adeline, Penelope, and Giovanni. He is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy of love, strength, and joy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, reunited with Tilly, and forever cherished by his family.
