MONTEIRO, Joseph Anthony "Joey" age 71, formerly of Deerfield Beach, Florida passed away on December 18, 2023. Joey was born in Boston, Massachusetts and spent his early years in Lynn, Massachusetts. Later, the family moved to New Jersey where Joey graduated from Bayonne High School. Upon graduation in 1971, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and attended Marine Recruit Training at Parris Island, SC Advanced Infantry Training at Camp Geiger and later Military Police training at Fort Gordon Ga. Upon being honorably discharged, he entered the field of automotive mechanics and moved to California and became a manager of Andy Granatelli Automotive. He later moved to Florida and attended Palm Beach Junior College and received a certification in automotive technology. He worked for many years as a technician for local auto dealerships in Palm Beach County and lived in South Florida for over 30 years and was medically retired from the Marine Corp. Joey had an absolute zest for life and an infectious laugh. He was an avid sports fan and loved his "teams" from Boston with an affinity for the New England Patriots. He had a kind soul, full of life, who absolutely loved people. He certainly was the life of the party and his stories were endless! Family and friends were everything to him. Material things did not matter to Joey but helping people did and it showed through his many acts of kindness. Joey was the proud father of Joanna, who he loved and adored, as well as the proud Grandfather of Jiselle and Luis. Joey is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Emily Monteiro and his daughter Joanna. He is survived by his brother Stephen Phillip Monteiro, his sisters Rosanne Stiles, Elizabeth Richman and Marie Whitney as well as his two grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday January 8th at Palms West Funeral Home at 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411 Telephone: (561) 753-6004.
