Jose Bernardo Rivera, affectionately known by many as "Pira," passed away on May 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering dedication and heartfelt warmth. Born on July 20, 1955, in Honduras, Jose’s journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to his family and an earnest work ethic that defined his life.
Jose was known as a hardworking man who did what was necessary to provide for his loved ones. Though he often wore a serious demeanor, those close to him knew of his love for laughter and how he delighted in bringing joy to others around him. His humor were a cherished part of his personality that illuminated the lives of family and friends alike.
A man of simple pleasures, Jose found comfort and enjoyment in watching television and considered eating one of his favorite pastimes. He treasured his trips to and from Honduras, where he took immense pride in tending to his cattle, bridging the distance between his homeland and his life in the United States.
Jose is survived by his devoted children: Oslin Rivera, Fatima Aviles, Jose Murillo, and Lisa Cruz. They carry forward his legacy with respect and deep affection. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Graciela Rivera, and his parents, Nando Rivera and Natividad Rivera.
The family will gather to honor and celebrate Jose’s life starting with a visitation on May 17, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Palms West Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., located at 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL. A Mass will be held on May 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, 100 Crestwood Boulevard South, Royal Palm Beach, FL, followed by his burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery at 12:30 PM at 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL.
Jose Bernardo Rivera’s life was one of perseverance, love, and joyful spirit. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.
