Jonnie C. Smith

March 3, 1934 — November 1, 2022

Jonnie Charles (J.C.) Smith, 88, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida was born March 3, 1934, in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Samuel Douglas and Ella May (Proctor) Smith and went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2022. He resided in Winston-Salem for 24 years, attending Hanes High School and worked at Western Electric. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Denver, Colorado and West Palm Beach, FL from 1952-1956. In 1960, he worked as an illustrator and designer for Martin in Orlando, RCA in Palm Beach Gardens and various companies including Perry Submarines and Piper Aircraft. He obtained his contracting license and owned Silvergate Builders and JCS Computer Drafting Service for 15 years. In 1975, he built his home in Royal Palm Beach. He worked 2 jobs for many years, sacrificing for his family. He loved aviation and obtained his commercial pilot license and so enjoyed flying, fishing, and hunting. He was a gifted artist. Many of his paintings are in the homes of his loved ones. He was a loyal and faithful husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. He donated his time and talent to those in need and opened his home for those in need of one. He was a steady rock and will be so very deeply missed. Faith and family were the most important things in his life. In his later years, he had to overcome many adversities but always persevered, never giving up. He wrote some of his obituary 10 years ago and wanted to share that he loved the bumper sticker "Someone you have to meet: Jesus Christ." He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ella Arvesta (Smith) Jones and Ruth Elizabeth (Smith) Leazer and brother Kermit Douglas Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alice Katherine (Kishpaugh) Smith, one daughter, Lisa Charlene (Gary) Trzepacz of Loxahatchee, two sons, Douglas Charles (Kimberly) Smith of Palm Beach Gardens, Stephen David (Diana) Smith of West Palm Beach. 3 Grandsons: Tyler Douglas, Austin James, Dexter Theodore and 2 granddaughters, Heather Anne & Katherine Audrey, devoted nephews, nieces and friends. We give thanks to God for his love, his life, and his sweet spirit. Special thanks to the staff at Renaissance Rehabilitation for their kindness and care.
