John Edward Sykes

John Edward Sykes, aged 81, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024. He was born on March 22, 1943. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Sykes, who passed away in 2008. John is survived by his three children: Karyn Sykes, who is partnered with Mark Perry; John Sykes, who is married to Doris Sykes; and Keith Sykes, who is partnered with Denice Salazar. He was a proud grandfather to Karyn's children, Michelle Taft and Ricky Reitz, who is married to Alleigh Reitz; John's children, Kassie Giesel, who is married to Jeff Giesel, and Nick Sykes, who is married to Ashley Masella; and Keith's son, Brady Sykes. John was also a cherished great-grandfather, with Brooklyn and Jackson being Kassie Giesel's children; Gracelyn and Benjamin, Michelle Taft's children; Jocelyn and Colton, Nick Sykes's children; and Sawyer and Remington, Ricky Reitz's children. Known for his vibrant personality, John loved bowling, indulging in ice cream, and passionately supporting the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He enjoyed all Chicago food and could often be found wearing his collection of neon polo shirts, soaking up the sun or sipping on Diet Coke. A lover of sweets, John would occasionally sneak a chocolate bar or two. He cherished breakfast at the pancake house, where he enjoyed good food and bantering with friends. In his younger days, he was also an avid golfer. John's love for his family, his playful spirit, and his zest for life will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held on November 1, 2024 at 11am at the Palms West Funeral Home in Royal Palm Beach.
