John Rudolph Smith Jr.

JOHN R. SMITH, JR., 61, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away December 31, 2008. Born in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late John R & Agnes Smith, Sr. He was raised in Lantana and graduated from Lake Worth High School in 1966. John was a Vietnam Veteran in US Army 94th Engineers as an SP4 and was a recipient of numerous Honors and Medals. He was a Charter Member of VVA Chapter 25, former member of IBEW Local 323, and Electrical Plans Examiner for Palm Beach County. He was also a member of Union Congregational Church and longtime volunteer at the Bait and Tackle in Yesteryear Village. His proudest roles were ?official? photographer and playmate to Jonathan and Isabella Farrell. John?s memory will be cherished by his wife of 38 years, Ruth, son Jack (Jessie) Smith, daughter Shannon (James) Farrell, beloved grandson and best friend, Jonathan Farrell, adored granddaughter, Isabella Farrell, and sisters Sharon (Norman) Azoon, Rita (Tony) Teixeira, Peggy George, and Laura (Steve) Buwalda, sister-in-law Faith (Stan) Gould, brother-in-law Albert (Michelle) Tregenza, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Internment will be held Friday, January 9, 11:30 am at the South Florida National VA Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held 10 Am, Saturday, January 10, at Union Congregational United Church of Christ, 5088 Summit Blvd, West Palm Beach, 33415.
