John Patrick Schegg passed peacefully into eternal rest on November 1st – surrounded by family. He was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1939 to the late John and Mary Schegg. He was the older of two children and he and his sister Mary remained close all their lives. John attended Devon Grammar School and Milford high School where he exceled at basketball. At 6"5, John dominated the court! He joined the Army after high school and because he was one of the few men who could type 60 wpm - he served as Company Secretary in Kansas City and in Iceland. When he returned to CT, he married Pat Nagle and they had a beautiful baby girl, Melissa Beth – the love of his life. John attended the University of Bridgeport where he earned an Associates and a Bachelor's degree in Business. He went on to receive his Master's Degree in Corporate Communications from Fairfield University. He met and married his second wife, Barbara in 1982. John held several Senior Human Resource Positions in consumer products, manufacturing, publishing, and electronic companies before he joined his wife in their own Human Resources Consulting Business. John was truly passionate about his work and enjoyed a solid reputation for excellence on both personal and professional levels. He was well very connected in the regional business community and the proud founder of the Human Resource Forum for the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. He was a Past President of the Human Resources Association of Greater New Haven, and Past President of the Danbury Human Resources Association (both chapters of SHRM). His proactive approach to networking was legendary and he helped hundreds of people to find new jobs and launch new careers. He loved Florida. He loved Park Pointe and the many friends he made here. He enjoyed the pool and the sun and walking the dog and he especially enjoyed the bowling league! In addition, he loved to exercise. He was an avid runner and went to the gym 5 days a week. He still found time to spend quality time with family and friends. He was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend - always thinking of others first. To know him was to love him. He will be greatly missed by his wife Barbara, His daughter Melissa Schegg, his sister Mary Legg and her son Dan, his step-son Doug Reitmeyer- his wife Gina and their three children Douglas, Rosemarie, and Gabriella; his stepson Eric; his mother in law Mary Fallon, his sister-in-law Nancy Fyfe, brother in law George Fallon, brother in law Jim Fallon – his wide Stacey and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial mass on Wednesday, November 9th at 9:30am at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 345 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach. Interment will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 N State Rd 7, Lake Worth, FL. Afterwards, there will be a Celebration of John's Life at the Atlantis Country Club.
