John Thomas Mccue

John Thomas (Jack) McCue, 88, of Wellington, FL died at home May 25. Born in Windsor Locks, CT, he served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the Pacific. He was the first American to land on Nagasaki after the atom bomb was dropped. His Landing Ship, Tank (LST) took refuge there during a typhoon. He attended UCONN, played professional baseball for the old Boston Red Sox and the Pittsburg Pirates. He also played semi pro football for the Hartford Ramblers. Retired from Allstate Insurance Co. in 1988, he and his family moved to Wellington 21 years ago. Mr. McCue is survived by his wife of 59 years Joyce Parent McCue and their 4 children, Kelli (Edward) Robinson of Wellington, Shawna (Perry) Rohweller of Hobe Sound, William (Kathy) McCue III of Jupiter and Joy (Bill) Lane of Gotha, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Family and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Service Friday, June 3 at 10:15am at the So Fl National Cemetery, 6501 St Rd 7, Lake Worth, FL. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Vitas Hospice, 1901 So Congress Ave., #420, Boynton Beach, FL 33426.
